On June 1,1999, the messengers at Ultra Ex in San Francisco voted 27 to 15 in favour of a union. After a two year struggle the San Francisco Bike Messenger Association succeeded in bringing the entire American messenger industry into the 20th century - finally.
All 42 Ultra Ex messengers voted in the highly contested election that saw management vigourously fight to break the union. The messengers will be represented by the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 6, who will begin bargaining with Ultra Ex management for the first contract.
Messengers all over the world appreciate
SF messengers and congratulate them on their victory.
Now that's P.O.D.
