Pedal Pusher Peeved

A bike courier took to his feet yesterday, chasing a cabby who put the courier's $700 mountain bike between a rad and a hard place and dragged it through downtown.

Chris Ellis, 21, said he cycled after the Diamond cab after it cut him off at Queen and Yonge Sts.

The cab briefly stopped, and Ellis and the driver exchanged angry words.

The cab took off and Ellis again gave chase, this time laying down his customized Rockhopper mountain bike at a red light and demanding an apology.

"He ran right over my bike and it got stuck under the front of the cab and he went east on Shuter, north on Yonge and east on Edward St.," with Ellis chugging behind on foot.

When the courier caught up with him, the cabby was trying to disentangle the mangled cycle. Ellis got a parking enforcement officer to call the authorities.

Police said they won't lay charges because he shouldn't have pursued the cabby, Ellis said, adding he plans to sue "because that's my livelihood that's mangled."
