Moving Target, Issue #5, Fall 1989
Yo mobiles anybody coming free anywhere at all now. Tarmac torpedo and veteran of a thousand cyclic wars, Buffalo Bill here at the controls, broadcasting from the ranch up the road from Camden Town. Gee boss, what's that up there? Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it's another organisation claiming to represent us. DRA, LBCU, DRAC, DIWU, bleedin' alphabet soup, if you ask me. All aboard the band waggon, where are we going? Oh, the guys up front know - guess who gets to do the donkey work. Unite and fight (or is it divide and rule?). Like the Gauls in the Asterix books cc's are only frightened of one thing - that sky is going to fall on their heads. These guys don't think big enough for me. Personally, the only political posting that interests me is the currently vacant position of Ruler of the Cyclised World. With the omniscient Dr. Capiello as my finance minister, I couldn't fail. Except that, of course, I'm burned - out and on the scrap heap at 23 years of age. Another day, another grimy dollar and a fist full of dockets goin' nowhere. How many times have you died this week?
Some of you may have noticed that I have raised my media-profile considerably over the past few weeks. Not content with almost entirely subverting the pages of MT with my rabid nonsense, I have managed to get the old tonsils on LBC. Those of you that missed it can obtain the 12 inch Bootleg Scratch Mega-Mix in a Buffalo-Soldier Styli signed and numbered from my new company 'The Mighty Buffalo Mult-i -Media Enterprise Appliance Unlimited". Price on application. My attorney is currently negotiating a price for my new syncopated, syndicated chat show 'The Buffalo Hour". Watch this space for details and you're sure to have a smash. Media- lunches, press-releases, photo-calls, I even bought myself a Filofax (only a small one) and they want an angle. I showed’em a nice bit of brazing by Capiello but they didn't get the joke, What about the real stars, the guys on 'Streetwise' have you seen it? I love it myself, bags, bikes, and the geezer who lost a leg in the first episode was a real cc once (contract rider for some city firm or other) where's it all going to end ? Fibrosis of the lungs", Charlie B told me the other day. As long as I can still drink Lavazza doc I don't care, I s'pose. Did you know that the first Buffalo Bill, Wild West Hero and all that, was a despatch rider too? "Among the most noted and daring riders of the pony-express was Hon. William F. Cody, better known as Buffalo Bill whose reputation is now established the world over". Alexander Majors Seventy years on the frontier (no bull shit). Art imitating lycra or what? Have a laugh and stay a live cc see you in the street
BB.
BBPS Over a year now since the Mighty Buffalo first spoke. What's happened? Well MT has come out five times now against the odds and you all owe Andy D. and CC. Brave a massive vote of thanx for keepin' it on the street. Their ingenuity and persistence has made this rag something all cc's can be proud of. I hope you find some way of showing your gratitude and continuing support for the mag.
