I recognize the value of the work by bicycle and foot messengers in this country. Many cities benefit from the reduced congestion on our streets and reduced air pollution in our air. My department supports active living initiatives as an alternative to the automobile. As we begin to decrease the usage of the single occupancy vehicle, we will see an improvement in air quality and a decrease in infrastructure necessary to support transportation.
