C.P.R Messengers’ Races

Montgomery won the one-mile championship duplicating his performance of
last year
The Canadian Pacific Railways Company’s telegraph messengers held their
annual bicycle races at the island track this morning. The chief
feature was Montgomery’s riding in the mile championship. He also won
the championship last year.
The races were clean and no accidents happened to mar the sport.
Following is a summary of the events:
First race, 8 mile
handicap limit 800 yards
1.Omerod, scratch;
2. Montgomery, W. scratch;
3. Foster, scratch;
4. Stoskopf, scratch;
5. Belz, F. 100 yards;
6. Montgomery, 100 yards;
7. Wright, 100 yards;
8. Henry 100 yards;
9. Davidge 100 yards;
10. Clarke 100 yards;
11. Belz, 300 yards;
12. Coulson 300 yards;
13. Littleford 300 yards. Time: 7:55
Second race, 1 mile
championship
1. Montgomery;
2. Omerod;
3. Foster
Time: 2:40
Clark, Henry and Wright also started, finishing in the order named.
Third race. 2 miles,
